Letter from Ann

Ann Zuccardy
Dear Friend,

Happy June... from the Peace-Loving, Shortbread-Eating Flour Children of Vermont Shortbread Company.

Yes, Vermont is alive with the sounds, sights and smells of "almost-summertime". Grab a lawn chair and your sweetheart and meet us at the outdoor concert. You bring ice-cold lemonade, we'll bring fresh-baked shortbread.

Since we're feeling so fine and mellow, we thought we'd play up the Vermont Hippie theme. Find out if you've been named a "Vermont Shortbread Head" (or Shorthead for short). Pop over to our Squidoo lens to read about Medieval Cooky Molds and other weird shortbread intrigue.

Are you long on friendships but short on time? We've cooked up another brilliant shortbread idea for our customers: the Vermont Shortbread Gift Box Voucher.

Calling all food writers! Cover the bakery beat with VSC and friends- we need your articles. Just paste your article text right into the body of an email and send to dina@wordfeeder.com for consideration.

Note: We're especially fond of tea talk and coffee chat - always the perfect accompaniment to freshly baked shortbread. For now, read what Ann has to say about Sensual Shortbread.

Sincerely,

Ann Zuccardy, Owner
Vermont Shortbread Company

vermont shortbread companyShortbread: One of Life's Greatest Sensual Pleasures

by Ann Zuccardy

Tasting, experiencing and writing about new food and drink is not just my livelihood. To me, it’s in the top five of life’s greatest pleasures... to be enjoyed slowly, purposefully, with all of the senses.

Next time you treat yourself to something as divine as home-baked shortbread, why not try this:

1. Find a softly lit, secluded spot where you can be alone with just the shortbread. Take a moment to breathe deeply and engage all five of your senses.

Bits 'n Bites

Q: Can I freeze my Vermont Shortbread?

Yes, Vermont Shortbread keeps well in the freezer for up to 3 months if you follow these simple steps:

1. Freeze fresh shortbread as quickly as possible upon receipt.
2. Store in appropriate protective packaging (e.g., a plastic freezer bag with a zip-top).

We do not recommend storage for more than 3 months as the product contains fat (i.e., butter) which can deteriorate even when frozen.

Warm your thawed Vermont Shortbread in the the microwave for 15 seconds so that it tastes like it's fresh from our bakery!

One of the most rewarding aspects of living and owning a business in Vermont is the pervading small-town feeling of cooperation and togetherness.

VTVAST, or the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers, is a perfect example of caring citizens and avid hobbyists pitching in for the greater good. VTVAST.org members work hard to respect and maintain the land while upholding the quality of one of the great Vermont pastimes, snowmobiling.
